Photobook of the images of Buddha on palm
The images of Buddha on palm were made by Mr. Takeo Asuke, who is only pilgrim of priest Ippen’s pilgrimage. The images of Buddha on palm were burned out together with the standing statue of priest Ippen due to the fire of Hogonji temple. Fortunately however, Ms.Chizuko Oya, Japanese photographer, significantly took number of the images of Buddah on palm pictures with their digital database. The Ehime Bank, Ltd. has proudly compiled photobook, The World of Buddah on palm.
This photobook features the beauty of nature and human life. The definition of nature in this photobook is the entity to be existed indispensably. The natural cycle of dynamism of things, as seeds, sprouts, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits, and seeds again fall into soil as its cycle in nature. It presents dynamism shown without any of artificial force given. Priest Ippen had eventually discovered a Buddhist in nature.
Everybody have sincerely try to follow the path as the priest Ippen had stamped however in fact, secularism overwhelms unavoidably on us. Post-modern age after the Meiji restoration in Japan, flood of western ideas and wisdom had distorted the lives of our mental and emotional pivots over time to some extent. In antiquity, ocean, sky, mountains, rivers, they have been real mercies of Buddha who had benefitted us infinite goodwill and virtue on our living life that cherished by bounties of great mother’s nature, festive traditions, and occasional celebrations with odes presented time to time.
In addition, nobody can avert from transient moments of life. Remember, well known passage from an ancient Chinese poem written by Liu Xi Yi, “ flowers look ultimate similarity kept over time, however time makes people different “ , which eternally preaches us to know the nature what and how it is, the message is synchronously giving by the image of Buddah on palm.
